Welcome to my Global Learning Project –
“Insects All Around Us”.   As your class learns, reads, explores, and writes about insects, this site offers an opportunity to share with other visitors the students' work and use additional resources for the students to continue to learn about many insects.

_Why Join?
Be the driver of your own classroom. The purpose of this project is for the targeted grade levels k-3 to incorporate technology, science, and writing. Teachers will have an opportunity to collaborate locally and globally. The students do not need to have technology experience.
This is an opportunity for the K-3rd grade students (ages 4-8) to explore and engage while learning, writing, and sharing out with true life situation. Meets Common Core and the International Society forTechnology in Education Standards  (ISTE Standards).
How to be part of this colony?
The sign up is free but necessary to keep track of where our visitors are collecting the insect information. Connect through website chat rooms, widgets, twitter, and emails. Here teachers are collaborating in global learning by sharing the information the students are gathering about local insects.

This is how it works...
  • The class studies about insects in their classroom.
  • The teacher may decide to assign specific insects or allow the student to choose their own insect.
  • The class reads, explores, and writes about the insect.
  • Publish the writing and other art work that the  students produce such as, "All About Insects" books and art work.
  • The work is shared via scanned pictures, and/or videos. If districts permit; video presentations are used to share.
The participants get support via emails along with support links to outside resources for any needed technology on -how to be able to share.
